That 15 foot pirate ship on the "open seas" is actually surrounded by a huge backdrop (60 feet), with the bridges barely 18 inches above the ship's mast and out of the camera's frame. Captain Barnacle & Co. were so busy looking for treasure they never noticed anything unusual going on around them. That's focus!
